Whitening is gentle and safe when supervised by your dentist. You can see results within three days with the home whitening process. Normally it takes one to two weeks to achieve maximum whiteness. The whitening process will not effect your enamel, tooth structure, bonding or restorations. Whitening acts only on the molecules that carry the discoloration The dentist take an impression of your teeth to make a custom mouth piece that is trimmed off of your gums and soft tissue. The dentist then gives you a kit including the custom mouth piece, the bleaching material, and instructions. A common treatment plan is to wear the mouth piece one hour per day for fourteen days. You may be provided with a stronger bleaching agent used a lesser amount per week two weeks. The dentist will then advise how often to use this process for maximum whitening maintenance.
